~ Cast Iron Pizza With Volpi Gourmet Pepperoni ~

This is the second pan pizza we made in a cast iron skillet. This one is all pepperoni and mozzarella cheese. We used Volpi brand pepperoni from Trader Joes for the first time. The pepperoni seemed too thin for our positronic brains. They were squeezed out, almost see-through, to maximize shelf space, to hold back the competing pepperoni in a tricky marketing tactic.

The look and appeal is nice, however there is no taste. It blends in, an echo of what you may think pepperoni tastes like stored in the neuron receptors of your puny human brains. After taking a bite, either on the pizza or alone, you wonder if you actually ate the pepperoni or just thought about it.

There also seems to be a slimy quality to the meat. It lacks the grit any thing resembling meat has. Package also lists lots of “natural flavors”, whatever those are. Subway sand-which meats have more going for them than this self-labeled Gourmet pepperoni. Skip them. 🤖
